My and the boys?!?#*!?

So, life is going waaaayyy too fast and I had to get this one down for posterity. Last night, Chad and I were trying to actually sit together at the dinner table and enjoy a meal, whilst our children were eating at the bar. (It takes about 15 minutes or so to get them situated, it seems, before we actually sit down and eat our ever-luke (a.k.a. lukewarm) meals). All moms know that eating food at its prime only happens when you are out to eat! And food in its prime doesn't exist at any restaurant in Lehi! Warm cold cereal and cold hot cocoa are all too familiar to this lady.

Anyway, as I was saying, we were about to launch into the usual small-talk about the day when I notice Chad looking at one of Maya's countless notepads, just chuckling. Here is what he was reading, (word for word), "Dear Chandler J. I'm so sorry I couldent make it to your party (she begged not to go, so I said o.k. and rsvp'd "no" to Chandler's mum.....she got sick anyway, so it didn't matter) It's just I dont like the way you've been treating me or my friends. I dont hate you but just dont give me any more hugs I wanted to tell you my fellings Love Maya"

I have noticed several male fans of My when I go once a week to conduct reading groups. Poor Chandler. At least My was straight with him. She's already got a leg up on communicating with the poor guys who she'll so carelessly be tossing aside in her teen years.

Speaking of high school, last week, we passed Lehi High when lunch break was happening and this is what I heard from the back seat, "Look mom! REAL HIGH SCHOOL KIDS! LOOK! THERE ARE TWO HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS CROSSING THE STREET RIGHT NOW!!!! That is SO COOL!" (Brace yourselves) "When I get to high school, I am going to find myself a BOYFRIEND!"

People, I can guarantee you she did not get this idea from me. My response was (and it clearly wasn't the best.....any substitutions you may have are welcome in the comment section) "Well, the most important thing in high school is to do really well in your classes and to take classes that you like so that you can get into college and get a REALLY GOOD JOB!"

Hairy legged women's libber, right here! (right.....look at my life and judge for yourself).

We love Maya and are proud that she is developing confidence in communicating by the pen. I smell some Dear Johns in her future:)

  2. I LOVE IT!!! We all knew these kinds of things would take place when we heard Maya exclaim, at the tender age of 20 months "Dude, I'm patient!" Well, she certainly is! Who else would tolerate a "cootie covered" boy hugging her with such maturity. I mean, a letter. What a kind and responsible way to break the young lad's heart whilst letting him know she doesn't hate him. Way to go, Maya!!!

  4. That a girl! Soon she'll be telling them that she's "interested in someone else" the way her cold aunt did! Glad you posted.

  8. I want to know where did this picture come from? Did Maya ask Chad to put the tux on or did he already have it on and she ran to put her dress on. I can see Chad so seriously spinning her around with her head turned to the side and one arm out in true princess form. I love that she just speaks her mind. Such great confidence at the tender age of 7. You have done such a good job with her.
